Labour leadership challenger condemns treatment of Labour MP on peace mission

In response to Israel's interrogation and deportation of a delegation headed by Labour MP Lynne Jones, John McDonnell MP said: "I am appalled by Israel's disgraceful treatment of Lynne Jones and her delegation. It is outrageous for a peace and reconciliation mission headed by a parliamentary representative to be treated like terror suspects and subjected to interrogation and deportation.

"The only motive of this delegation was to build links between Ramallah and Birmingham, and to help set up a library for the children of the Ramallah refugee camp.

"I call on the Israeli authorities to apologise for their treatment of this delegation."
