JOHN MCDONNELL: BROWN'S MISSED OPPORTUNITY

In response to Gordon Brown's speech today, Labour leadership challenger John McDonnell MP said: "This was a disappointingly flat speech which missed the beat. It just didn't catch the mood of party members and the country for a new direction and new ideas. There was nothing new in terms of vision or concrete policy. It was all largely rehashed from previous speeches and budget statements."
