While John is without question totally sincere in His sympathy for the sufferings of the people of Gaza - He is as usual completely wrong in directing the blame for this at the door of The Israeli Government & People .
Terrorist groups have for years used Gaza as a base to fire thousands of increasingly sophisticated & lethal rockets
( using the civilian population of Gaza to hide these weapons within )at the civilian population of Southern Israel . If John had ever visited Sderot and met the Families of Israelis killed by Quassam Rockets & seen the physical & physcological damage that the Rockets do , as I have done , then mayby He wouldn't be so quick to call the Israeli defensive action -"disproportionate " .
Why is it that there is always a deafening silence from the Left about Israel's sufferings ? Why is it that You never hear any condemnation of the Anti-semitism of HAMAS or it's attacks on Palestinian Trade Unionists ?

The problem is that both Arabs and Israeli's have "right" on their side, and both see themselves as "victims".
Jews believe they have a legitimate and historical right to be where they are. Palestinians believe the jews do not. Consequently, Palestinians are determined to keep chipping away away at Israel with bombs and missiles, and Israel are equally determined to resist this with greater and greater force.
But the fact is Israel exists, so unless what John is calling for is it's destruction-the only solution is for both parties to stop killing each other, and find a way of living harmoniously. Because otherwise both are on a hiding to nothing (just more suffering). Condemnation of either side will not get us anywhere.
